What is sunnah
The acts and practices of the Prophet (SAW) are called Sunnah. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) stands as the sacred model for humanity to emulate and follow, as Allah sent him as an example of how one should live his or her life. The term Sunnah comes from Arabic word which means to ‘pave the way’ making a path easier, more comfortable, and more accessible.The term ‘Sunnah’ is usually interpreted as ‘the act of’ or ‘example of the Prophet (SAW).’ Muslims study and ponder over the Hadith text to benefit from the prophetic knowledge transmitted to mankind in the form of narrations.
Hijama sunnah points
Cupping can be done at any point
corresponding to the ailment. But our Holy Prophet (PBUH) took Hijama treatment
at various specific points. And He demonstrated certain illnesses which can be
cured by doing Hijama at these points. Therefore, we must also consider these
Sunnah Points while taking or performing Hijama. There are total of 9 Sunnah
points. We will discuss some of the main points that mostly used. – hijama
in islam
Note: That even though the
various forms and methods of Cupping are beneficial, only wet cupping (HIJAMA)
is a remedy from the sunnah.
The primary Sunnah
points (Kahil)
These points should be the main points which must be
performed on every session in addition to other points.

The
secondary Sunnah points:
These points are very beneficial but not essential
to do.They can be incorporated into the treatment of the patient on a regular
basis. Narrated
Anas (radiyallahu anhu), that the Prophet (sallahu alaihi wasallam) used to get
treated with cupping on the two jugular veins and the upper part of the back
(this area is referred to as Kaahil in Arabic).
Centre of Head (Yafookh)
The Prophet was treated by cupping while he was in the state of ihram.Narrated Ibn Abbas: That the Messenger of Allah was treated with Cupping on his head while he was in ihram due to a migraine that he had.This is the first Sunnah point which is at the head top. It is used to treat certain neurological conditions including a headache, epilepsy, sinusitis and many other emotional disturbances.
Sides of the Neck (Akhda’ain)
This sunnah point is on the sides of the neck.Located at the external jugular veins.These are the most effective points.
On the forehead
On the middle of the forehead,above the brows in the middle.Narrated Salma (radiyallahu anhaa), the servant of the messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam): “There was no one who complained to the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) of a headache except he would say to him: Get treated with Cupping”.
Tops of the Feet
Narrated Jabir (radiyallahu anhu) that the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) fell off from his horse onto a trunk (of a tree), so his foot became dislocated. Waki’ said: meaning that the Prophet was treated with Cupping on it because of a contusion. This Sunnah point is on the top of the foot. Hijama at this point on either foot cures a headache, constipation, certain psychiatric disorders, and many others.These Sunnah points remove not only toxic blood but also improves circulation throughout the body. It also helps to improve immunity thereby protecting you from getting disease easily. Improving immunity also makes your body able to fight against diseases.
Flat part of Hips
Narrate Jabir (radiyallahu anhu) that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) was treated with Cupping on his hip because of a sprain/bruise he suffered from.
On the
Waist
Hijama at
these point gives the cure for kidney problems, digestive system problems.
History
*Hijama and
the Lunar Cycle Narrated Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu anhu) that the Messenger
of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: Whoever wants to be treated with
Cupping let him search for the 17th or the 19th or the 21st. And do not let
your blood become hyperaemic (becomes excessive/boil/rage) so that it kills
you.
*Abu Hurairah
(radiyallahu anhu) that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)
said: Whoever gets treated with Cupping on the 17th and 19th and the 21st will
be cured from every illness.
* Narrated Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu anhu)
that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: Whoever wants to
be treated with Cupping let him search for the 17th or the 19th or the 21st.
* Ibn al-Qayyim mentions the physicians in that
time had reached a conclusion that Hijama is more beneficial in the beginning
of the third quarter of the lunar month. Some of the theories revolved around
the gravitational pull of the moon and its affects on bodily fluids.
*Ibn Sina believed that the blood becomes agitated around the latter part of the month. However if Hijama is needed, it can be performed at any time of the month.
